You may always obtain valuable information about what your child is learning using the following New York State website: www.engageny.org. This website contains important information about the standards of each grade as well as information on the NYS tests and resources for parents/families. I want to thank all of you for your patience as we work through the new policy with the Lexia Reading Logs. Lexia is a research-based Reading program with a proven record of increasing Reading achievement. Many parents/guardians have inquired about our ongoing arts programs. Please know that Mr. I and Ms. Rizzo will switch their Wednesday classes as of February 1st so that students will receive both Musical Theatre and Visual Arts. We have just hired another part-time Music teacher who will work with students in grades 1, 4, & 5, and who will also take on the P.S. 65 Chorus. Bobaloo is coming to work with students in grades PK & K, and Ms. Patanio, our Technology teacher, who is also a Visual Arts teacher, infuses art into her curriculum daily. Finally, all of our teachers have been provided with instruction in the 4 art strands, and they infuse arts into their lessons every day. We will continue to provide arts programs after-school and will begin our Enrichment Program in February for students in grades 3, 4, & 5. This will eventually grow to include students in the lower grades. I want to extend my deepest appreciation to all of you for your kind words, gestures and generosity to me and my staff during the holiday season! I hope that you know that we appreciate all that you did. I'm so excited about this New Year, and look forward with great enthusiasm to the work that lies ahead!
